International Reach: Janzoo!

NEWS: I started writing a column over at Hip Hop Lives Online called "International Reach" where I interview Hip-Hop artists and producers from all over the world.

Excerpt from HHLO: "Since Hip-Hop was birthed here in America, we often tend to overlook the huge impact that it has had on the rest of the world. The U.S. media traditionally focuses only on American artists and thus consequently ignores the huge and increasingly thriving foreign Hip-Hop market. HHLO.net has made it their mission to correct that problem and become the new beacon of light that shines on rappers abroad…"

Battle of the BRATZ!

Speaking of Barbiez... Barbie has officially knocked Bratz out of the Toy World!
Since Carter Bryant, the creator of Bratz, was still working for Mattel when he came up with the whole Bratz concept, Mattel was allowed to sue the hell out of him for a *drum roll please* back-breaking $100 million dollars! As Willmar V. would say "Cash Monney"!!!
Have you noticed the lack of new Bratz dolls on the shelves? Do you know what this means? No more Bratz. Ever! They're gone. Vamoosh! So all of you out there who have Bratz dolls and accessories still in the boxes unopened, keep it that way. I'm sure their gonna be worth a shitload of money!

*Tear* Goodbye Bratz. Even though I like Barbie, I gotta admit you were killing her, no competition, you win hands down...

Christina Aquilera is the New Barbie?!

Sooo I know I have been seriously M.I.A. but with finals kicking my ass, promoting my ass off, and all the little drama bugs threatening to take over my life, I have been SUPER OCCUPIED!!!
Buuttt I intend to make up my absence by flooding you all with tons and tons of posts. :)
Now on to some Blogworthy stuff...

So ummm, have ya'll heard about Christina Aguilera being the new face of Barbie? Yeah, that's right, since Barbie will officially be celebrating her 50th birthday in 2009, the heads over at Mattel have decided that Barbie needs an updated, revamped look and they've selected Christina Aguilera as the perfect face model! Blonde, petite, sexy... Ok makes sense. Go Stina!!! I've always thought that she was pretty... It will be interesting to see how this "new model" phases out :)
Still I can't help but feeling a bit outdated myself. So young, yet so old. Somehow in my 22 years I've managed to see a Black man be elected President, survive Y2K, witness the U.S. go to war with Iraq, live through a Depression firsthand (actually, still living through that one), witness 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, and now witness the revival of Barbie. Damn I feel old lol. But at least I have some great stories to tell the future grandkids ;)

Editor's Note: Don't you think that Mattel should select a new model for all the nationalities? If Christina Aguilera is going to be the mold for "Caucasian Barbie", I nominate Shakira for "Latin Barbie", and... I gotta get back to you on who should be the mold for Black Barbie. That one requires some consideration haha

Video: Akon and Young Jeezy LOL

Guess Who's Back? Goodness, you won't believe the week I've had... And I'm not about to tell it to you neither haha.

Anyways, I found another cute lil Internet jewel for you. It appears Scarface has decided to re-emerge in the rap world and to promote his 2nd coming, his promo team has made him a cartoon video where he's a teacher skooling all the "new rappers". It's kinda boring in the beginning but it has it's funny moments... Like when Lil Wayne writes "Best Rapper Alive" on the chalkboard and at "1:17"... Akon and Young Jeezy! LMAO!

GoodBye for Now, I'll be the Same...

Hey Folks, I will be away until Monday December 8th. During that time I will not be making any new posts or approving comments. Until then :P...

Video: Bella Donna and Deja B. do a "Michael Jackson Skit"

I had to do a presentation last week in my "Comm 306" class on the "Spiral of Silence Theory" by Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann...

Most of the students in my class choose to simply do a PowerPoint presentation and give out a couple of hand-outs or do a sample quiz... Soooo I decided to do something a little different for my presentation and get creative. Hence a home-made "Spiral of Silence" video was created!!! Yay!!! Haha.
Basically, the "Spiral of Silence Theory" says that when placed in a situation where a person's opinion is not shared by the majority, that person will simply remain "silent" instead of voicing their opinion because they don't want to become isolated or look stupid in front of their friends. For example, say you don't like gay people and you somehow end up in a situation where you are severely outnumbered by gay people surrounding you... Your not going to say "I hate gay people" when your around them. It's not that your mind is necessarily changed about how you feel towards them, it's just that your put in a situation where you are in the minority and you don't want to go against the majority opinion, therefore you remain "silent"...
Editor's Note: BTW, I don't hate gay people, it was just an example.

So for my presentation, Me, Deja B., and A. Hardin did a skit where I'm preparing to go a party while listening to a Michael Jackson song when Deja B. and A. Hardin come in and roast me for listening to Michael Jackson. Now, even though I like Michael Jackson, I don't want to say I do because then they'll start roasting me instead. Its basically how the "Spiral of Silence" would play out in real life... Aww sh*t, didn't know I was a scholar too huh? Lol.

Anyways, On to the Video:
